On January 19, a historic moment was celebrated at the Hartman Transport Group in Veenoord. On this day, we officially commissioned our battery container. Representatives from the Gedeputeerde Staten, the Province of Drenthe, and the Municipality of Emmen were present to mark this special occasion.
With no less than 1,900 solar panels installed on the roof of the Hartman Expeditie and J.P. Vis & Zn. warehouse, we generate a significant amount of electricity. Naturally, this is ideal, but due to grid congestion, we were unable to feed the generated electricity back into the power grid.
Fortunately, at the Hartman Transport Group, we take a solution-oriented approach and developed a plan for an alternative solution: the battery container. The purchase of this special container was made possible through a grant from the Province of Drenthe’s subsidy program, “Solutions for Grid Congestion in Sustainable Energy Production.”
By using the battery container, we can meet our own energy needs. The solar energy generated remains entirely within the company, stored and utilized, eliminating the need to burden the public power grid. The storage container can hold up to 1.1 megawatts of electricity, allowing us to be self-sufficient for most of the year.
RTV Drenthe was also present on January 19 to report on the event. Watch the segment here.
